Under 16Okehampton 31 – Exeter 7Adorned in the new Exeter Chiefs strip, the under 16s started their Landscape League campaign with a predictably tough match away at Okehampton at the weekend. Okehampton put 47 unanswered points on the Chiefs back in March and the Chiefs were looking to improve on this.In a penalty strewn first ten minutes Okehampton got the better of the Chiefs and scored twice in quick succession. The Chiefs then started to find their feet and put some pressure on Okehampton’s defence eventually setting centre Adam Harris free. Harris broke a tackle or two and covered 65 meters pretty swiftly to touch down under the posts. The conversion was easily slotted by Aidan White. The first half ended 19 – 7 so it was all to play for in the second period. The Chiefs defended stoutly but couldn’t keep Okey from scoring twice more before the final whistle. The final score was certainly an improvement on previous encounters.

Under 13Tiverton 26 Exeter Chiefs 0The Cherokees first match of the season and for the first time on a full size pitch. Not the best result to start the season, however the team enjoyed a close game of rugby on the whole with some great passages of play. The score line sadly doesn\'t reflect the positive aspects of our game however. A very exciting first half with not much to separate both teams until a lack of confidence and commitment in the Cherokees defence allowed Tiverton to break through and score and then convert. Exeter, despite putting together a good deal of pressure, were unable to equalize before the break. The second half continued in much the same vein, however, Tivvy had the upper hand and the confidence to break through the visitors defence on a further three occasions, missing just one conversion. The Cherokees kept their composure and kept fighting but were just unable to finish off with a score.
