NEW BOARD MEMBER FOR CHIEFS
2009-07-06
NICK BEATON JOINS THE BOARD
Exeter Chiefs have recruited a new member to its board of directors.
Nick Beaton has been voted onto the board to take over John Baxter’s role as the club’s league representative. Mr Beaton will attend all meetings concerning the new Championship.
Father-of-two Mr Beaton is a lifelong Chiefs supporter and played for the colts as a 15-year-old after being persuaded to join the club by sports master Bob Staddon.
Exeter-born Mr Beaton went onto play for Exeter’s first team and captained both the colts and the second team. He currently coaches Exeter Chiefs U14s, for whom his son plays.
Mr Beaton is a local businessman as a partner in Northcott Beaton Insurance Brokers in the city.
He said today: “I feel privileged and honoured to be invited on to the board, giving me the opportunity to help in the future success of a club I support and feel passionate about.”
Exeter Chiefs’ chief executive and chairman Tony Rowe said: “Nick is a welcome addition to our board. He has the perfect blend of rugby and business experience to complement its current members, and has the relentless enthusiasm for Chiefs that we all share.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank John Baxter for tireless service. His contribution to the club is written into the history of Exeter Chiefs.”
