The little Chiefs continued their good run of form from the festival, Gareth Roebuck and Tom Peters sprinting down the wings to score 2 tries. With good support play, the visitors ran in their first try. The Chiefs then moved the ball along the line well and a precise pass by Cameron Conn set up Amir Rendall to zoom in a try. Cleve replied quickly before Gareth Roebuck ran a typical “Gareth” try in from the halfway line. Cleve again attacked well and sprinted in a try at the end of a 6 pass move. As half time approached, Tom Kilmartin picked up the ball in the Chiefs half and darted to the try line. Cleve ran in another try as the half time whistle blew.
Cleve opened the scoring in the second half, before a quick reply from Tom Kilmartin and then Cleve scored again, before the Chiefs defense then kicked into gear, Owen Atkins and Tom Caught leading by example taking tag after tag. The little Chiefs managed to grab 7 tags, upon four successive occasions and ran in 4 tries without reply, Jamal Bokhammas sprinted to intercept the loose ball on two occasions then Fraser Nye grabbed the first try, followed by 2 tries for Tom Peters and a completed hat-trick for Tom Kilmartin who was fed by Fraser Boyle after a 10 metre run. The final Chiefs try was scored by Gareth Roebuck with another trademark 20 metre dash down the line for a final score 55- 35 to the Little Chiefs.
The positive manner of the game represented a fine ending to a wonderful season and was the last TAG match for the boys before the switch contact rugby in the Autumn.
Time off now till mid July… rest well.
