An evening with Mal Roberts... 'All things kicking'
Mal is an experienced coach and his speciality is coaching all the various forms of the kick in the modern game. Mal is an Exeter Chiefs Academy Coach based at Truro College as well as being the Cornwall Backs and Attack Coach.
The session will be a blended learning experience covering the what, when, as well as the how to coach the various kicking options. Mal will cover the theory and rationale behind the various kicks to help coaches understand how the kick can be best utilised in support of your game plan. This will help coaches by discussing what makes a kick a good kick; was it an attacking option or will it help with game management?
The same session will be delivered in Devon and Cornwall (coaches only need to attend once):
- Monday 13th October - Truro College - 19:30-20:45
- Monday 20th October - Exeter College Centre for Rugby - 19:30-20:45
The sessions will be suitable to all coaches of all ages and all levels.
Exeter Chiefs Academy Coach Development sessions are for rugby coaches who coach at Devon or Cornwall clubs and/or schools.

"A brilliant, thought-provoking evening which captured my imagination around creating an effective learning environment during coaching sessions. The ideas were simple to implement but could make a huge difference to the experience of the players. I'm already looking forward to the practical session in January!"
