Chiefs scrum-half Will Becconsall will spend the 2025/26 season dual registered with RFU Championship side, Cornish Pirates.

Becconsall has previous experience down at Mennaye Field and joins fellow Chiefs Sol Moody, Jack Forsythe, Louie Sinclair and Alfie Bell in Penzance this season.

Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter said: "What we would like to do with all our young players - and we have got quite a few youngsters in the backline - is to get them playing at the highest level we can, as soon as possible and as regularly as possible.

"Especially with someone like Will who has had a disruptive couple of years with injury, we want to get him playing so that we can give him the best chance to gain experience on the field, as that will give him the best opportunity to progress forward.

"We've got a great relationship with Pirates and they're really keen to get Will playing for them. So, we would like to see him getting as much game time as he can before we begin the Premiership season."

Becconsall has joined up with the Pirates squad this week as they begin to finalise their preparations for a new Championship season.
