Exeter Chiefs loosehead prop Kwenzo Blose is due to undergo surgery on an achilles injury.
The injury occurred during Chiefs’ second round Gallagher PREM match against Newcastle Redbulls at Sandy Park on Saturday.
Brought into the game in the 56th minute, just 10 minutes later Blose stayed down after a scrum inside the Chiefs’ half. Following scans, it has been determined the prop has ruptured his achilles and will require surgery.
Director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “We’re all disappointed for Kwenzo. He really started to emerge for us at the tail end of last season, and he’s been a consistent performer for us so far this season.
“It will test the depth of our front row a little now, but we hope that if all goes to plan, we hope to see Kwenzo back before the end of the season.”
Following surgery this week, Blose will enter a period of rehab with the Chiefs medical team.
