Exeter Chiefs can confirm that highly-rated forward Josh Caulfield is returning to Championship side, the Cornish Pirates, on dual-registered terms.

The 22-year-old, who is equally at home in the second-row or back-row, featured in Exeter’s opening two fixtures in this season’s Premiership Rugby Cup against Bath and Leicester and, more recently, has been featuring for the Exeter Braves in the Premiership Rugby Shield.

Taunton-born Caulfield has previously made 64 appearances for the Cornish Pirates, having first arrived at the Mennaye Field similarly dual-registered at the start of the 2016/17 season.

Commenting on Caulfield’s return, Pirates’ coach Alan Paver said: “We are over the moon to see someone of his quality make a return. Josh has been a fantastic performer for us, and Exeter, and is also popular with members of our squad.”
