Exeter Chiefs duo Sam Simmonds and Stuart Hogg have both been named on a five-man shortlist for the 2020 EPCR European Player of the Year award.

Back-row forward Simmonds and full-back Hogg will contest for the grand prize, which was won last season by Saracens star, Alex Goode, against Semi Radradra (Bristol Bears/Bordeaux-Begles), Finn Russell (Racing 92) and Virimi Vakatawa (Racing 92).

The quintet were trimmed from an initial 15-man list, which also included Exeter and England's Sam Simmonds, by a combined verdict of a distinguished panel of rugby experts and a public vote.

Voting has now reopened on epcrugby.com/epoty and the winner and recipient of the Anthony Foley Memorial Trophy will be announced following the Heineken Champions Cup final in Bristol on Saturday, October 17.
