Chiefs XV's pack dominance seals win at Coventry

A strong showing from a young pack helped a Chiefs XV side to victory at Butts Park Arena against Coventry on Saturday.

Captained by England U20 hooker Louie Gulley, who scored a brace of tries in the game, the Exeter side won 35-40 against the RFU Championship side.

Skills coach Ricky Pellow said: "The most pleasing thing about the game was that we put all of the things we learned from a tough game against Cornish Pirates last weekend into practice.

"Against Coventry, you could see a group of players who were connected and ready to fight for one another.

"The group individually and collectively are beginning to understand how much they have to stay in the fight to win big games."

The encounter was level 14-14 at half-time before Chiefs scored their winning try through Sol Moody in the 78th minute.

Moody bagged himself a hat-trick on the day while Harry Price also scored a try while Will Haydon-Wood slotted five conversions.
