Coaches invited to free attack philosophy session

Published on: 02/11/2026

Exeter Chiefs attack coaches Dave Walder and James Wilson will lead a thought-provoking, classroom-based session exploring the principles of attacking rugby.

The session will take place at Sandy Park from 18:00 on Monday, 9 November.

Walder will share his attacking philosophy and how his playing and coaching career has shaped his approach. Coaches will gain an insight into the key principles behind Exeter Chiefs’ attack, alongside how they analyse opposition, identify opportunities and use those findings to inform their game plan.

Coaches can explore new ideas, develop their own attacking identity and consider how to align their players around a common purpose, helping them recognise opportunities, make better decisions and attack with intent.

Attendees will be welcome to question, discuss and develop their thinking around one of the most exciting areas of the game.

Walder said: “A clear attacking philosophy gives players the understanding and confidence to make good decisions, recognise opportunities and play with intent. During this session I will be sharing my ideas with a view to developing attack across the region.”

This session is open to all Devon and Cornwall coaches working with all age groups and levels. They can book their place to take the next step in developing their attacking philosophy here.
