School's out and the Exeter Chiefs' Community department have been busy with Train Like a Chief camps, visiting rugby clubs across the South West to develop the next generation of rugby players.

Already, the team have visited Truro, Okehampton, Bridgwater and Bridport, welcoming a large number of children looking to add to their rugby skill set.

Train Like a Chief camps are developed and designed by the Community department's team of professional coaches using the most up-to-date techniques and aim to offer young people the best possible experience and insight into the modern-day game. Campers will not only learn the basic elements of the game, but at the same time improve their skill set in a range of activities and match-like scenarios.

Okehampton Rugby Club Community Camp

The key focus for the Chiefs’ Community team is to encourage and inspire young players to become the best they can be and to reach their full potential.

New Community Development Manager, Aron Struminski, said: "Our Train Like a Chief rugby camps are for people currently playing within rugby clubs, as well as people that are new to the game, we've got a lot of ways of adapting our sessions to meet the needs of individuals."

One or two-day player development courses are offered – either at Sandy Park itself or at local Schools or Rugby Clubs across the region – from £15 per camp, children aged 6-16 will get the opportunity to experience what rugby life is all about at a top Gallagher Premiership club.

Also, for this first time a girls only camp will be held at Bridgwater. Struminski said: "Due to the growth of the women and girls game across the South West we've put on a girls only camp at Bridgwater on the 30th August. This will be a great chance for girls in U13 - U18 age groups to train together and develop their game."

The camps are also supported by our professional players and coaching staff, (subject to training and playing commitments), who will use their experiences to pass on top tips and training techniques.

So who better to learn from? Regardless of age or ability, there is a course to suit everyone.
