Disciplinary: Niall Armstrong, Exeter Chiefs

The case of Niall Armstrong, Exeter Chiefs, was heard on papers by an independent disciplinary panel chaired by Matthew Weaver KC sitting with Daniel Gore and Christian Scotland-Williamson on Tuesday 14 November.

He received a red card for reckless or dangerous play, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.11, during a game against Northampton Saints on 12 November.

The case was heard on papers by an independent disciplinary panel chaired by Matthew Weaver KC sitting with Daniel Gore and Christian Scotland-Williamson on Tuesday 14 November.

The player admitted the charge and received a three match ban which will be reduced to two if the player makes an application to World Rugby to undertake the Coaching Intervention Programme (CIP).

Armstrong will miss the following games:

  • 19.11 v Gloucester
  • 26.11 v Newcastle
  • 02.12 v Bath (subject to completion of CIP)
