Exeter Chiefs Foundation announces 2025 Community Charity Walk

The Exeter Chiefs Foundation has announced the date for their 2025 Community Charity Walk, an event designed to raise funds for the Foundation to distribute to local charities across the Exeter area.
The Charity Walk will take place on Saturday, 4 October, ahead of the Chiefs’ first home Gallagher PREM game of the season against Newcastle Red Bulls.
Participants can register for an entry fee of £50 per person, which includes a seated match ticket kindly donated by Exeter Chiefs, a Chunk's famous pasty generously sponsored by Chunk of Devon, a pint of beer, lager, or soft drink sponsored by Heineken, and a T-shirt -making this an exceptional package.
Walkers are also encouraged to raise additional sponsorship through the Foundation’s JustGiving page to support local causes.
Exeter Chiefs Foundation Chairman Tony Rowe CBE said: “We are looking to make this a much larger event than before and turn it into an annual event that people want to get involved with now and in the future.”
The Foundation has been collaborating with Exeter City Council and their health and wellbeing team, who are keen to support the event as it aligns perfectly with their mission to encourage residents to stay active and enjoy regular exercise.
“Obviously the main purpose of the walk is to raise vital money for local charities, who are facing really challenging times,” Tony Rowe added “But if, on the back of that, we can get people out of their armchairs and exercising, even better.”
Several of Exeter’s largest employers have already pledged support for the event. University of Exeter, Exeter College, the RD&E Health Trust, and Exeter City Council are committed to encouraging their staff and families to take part or get involved.
The 10km route will begin at Wonford Community Centre, following the River Exe through some of Exeter’s scenic countryside before reaching Countess Wear and finishing at Sandy Park where participants can enjoy a well-earned drink and pasty before kick-off.
The walk is designed to be accessible for beginners, families, and seasoned walkers alike.
