Goodrick-Clarke recommits to Chiefs’ pack
Exeter Chiefs have bolstered their front row as loosehead prop Will Goodrick-Clarke has signed a contract extension.
Despite injuring his AC-joint against Harlequins in October, the 30-year-old has featured in 12 of 15 games this season, adding to his 28 appearances tally having joined Chiefs in the summer of 2024.
Goodrick-Clarke said: “It was an easy decision to re-sign. Exeter has given me an environment where I can grow both on and off the field.
“This is a place full of genuinely caring people and I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me, and I’m excited to keep pushing myself to help the team achieve our goals.”
The former London Irish man has flourished this season, winning 17 scrum penalties so far and achieving a 93.5% tackle success rate in all competitions.
The prop made 69 appearances for the Exiles and had also previously been on Eddie Jones’ England selection radar. Described by Chiefs forwards coach Ross McMillan as confrontational in his playing style, Goodrick-Clarke is sure to be a key feature of the Exeter pack going forward.
Director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “We’re really pleased to have another one of our front-line senior squad members re-signing for the future. Individually, he’s having a really good season. He’s played a lot of rugby for us having had a really good off-season followed by a strong pre-season where he worked really hard.
“People can obviously see that our set piece is going well at both lineout and scrum. We’re also one of the better defensive teams in the league currently, with our ability to keep in the game and fight for all areas being of key importance. The work our front five do is incredibly important to that.
“It’s great to have Will staying, someone who I believe is one of the top EQP looseheads in the country and a player who I still feel is going to keep improving and be part of a very important pack of forwards for us going forward.”
