Full-back/flanker Maddy Grant has decided to remain in Canada for the 2025/26 season.

The 24-year-old had made the decision to sign for Exeter Chiefs Women back in the spring but has requested a break from rugby for personal reasons.

Exeter Chiefs Women’s head coach Steve Salvin said: “We respect Maddy’s decision and wish her all the best. We were very excited about her joining us but also understand when a player just needs a bit of time out. We all wish Maddy well and hope we see her back on a rugby field very soon.”

Salvin is in the process of finding a player to replace Grant ahead of the 2025/26 season with the PWR Cup just weeks away and the start of the PWR season due to kick-off on October 25
