Jill Douglas MBE hosts breakfast networking event

Published on: 18/05/2026

BBC presenter and journalist Jill Douglas hosted a Gallagher x Exeter Chiefs networking event at Sandy Park last week.

More than 50 businessmen and women attended the “Finding the Edge” event held in the Chiefs Suite as Ms Douglas interviewed a panel made up Exeter Chiefs’ club captain Jack Yeandle and Caroline Moore, the club’s head of communications and PR.

The discussion saw Mrs Moore narrate her 30-year journey from junior newspaper reporter to her current role while Yeandle espoused the importance of not getting hung up on mistakes.

The panel spoke briefly about the members’ recent vote to agree to sell the club and how Chiefs remain competitive in a rugby-heavy south west region.

Leadership styles, motivation, communication integrity and Chiefs’ recent success on the pitch were also hot topics.

The event was organised by business insurance and risk management specialists Gallagher, also the main sponsors of the Gallagher PREM, the top domestic men’s rugby competition in England.

Cheryl Phillips, regional managing director of Gallagher, said: “There is clear crossover between business and elite sport, with both demanding teamwork, communication and drive, so bringing the two together through this event felt natural.

“It was valuable to hear from Caroline and Jack, who shared honest perspectives from both commercial and performance viewpoints, offering important takeaways that will enhance skills and connections that support growth across the Southwest.”

Guests enjoyed a breakfast rolls, fruit juice, coffee and tea after the panel discussion before being invited to watch Exeter Chiefs train on the main pitch.
