Lilley dual-reg assigned to Cornish Pirates

Published on: 01/10/2026

One week on from representing Plymouth Albion in a 14-50 win over London Scottish in the capital, centre Nick Lilley has been dual-registered with Elior Champ Rugby side Cornish Pirates to further his playing opportunities.

Lilley spent his summer with England U20s, representing them at the 2026 World Rugby Junior World Championship alongside club teammate George Newman.

Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “We were impressed with how Nick performed for England age-grade throughout the summer and he settled into Plymouth’s side with confidence last weekend.

“Pirates are a highly competitive side in a high-quality Champ rugby league. We know he’ll receive great coaching down in Penzance and add to the competition in their environment.

“It’s important for our young players that we get them as much playing experience as possible, to give them the best chance to develop to the standard that we can begin to incorporate them in the first team on a regular basis.”

Chiefs fly-half Ben Coen will remain available to Plymouth Albion for their home match against Cambridge this weekend while lock Oscar Beckerleg remains with the Chiefs side preparing to face Bath Rugby at the Recreation Ground.

Pirates face Ealing Trailfinders at Mennaye Field on Saturday, 3 October [KO 15:00].
