After a stellar debut season, Exeter Chiefs and winger Paul Brown-Bampoe have agreed a new contract extension.

It is no secret that the 23-year-old has enjoyed one of the strongest breakthrough seasons of recent years, as the youngster went from being on loan to Plymouth Albion to scoring against Bordeaux Begles in an Investec Champions Cup clash.

“I am delighted to be re-signing at Chiefs,” Brown-Bampoe said. “It’s an environment that has allowed me to grow both my understanding and passion for the game.

“The Chiefs faithful have accepted me as one of their own and I am beyond excited to continue to grow and serve this club.”

Originally scouted from Durham University whilst playing against the University of Exeter, Brown-Bampoe was a relatively untested prospect when he joined the Chiefs squad for pre-season ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Handed his first opportunity in opening weekend against Leicester Tigers, Brown-Bampoe was thrust straight into the fire when Ben Hammersley was injured five minutes into the game and the young debutant had an unexpected 75 minute performance ahead of him.

He adapted well and fast became a fan-favourite with his burst of pace, his ability to break tackles and, most of all, his electric goose step.

All of which helped him score his first try scored against Bristol Bears in Round Four of Gallagher Premiership action. Since then, the winger has scored 20 more tries in all competitions and completed his first Chiefs campaign as top try scorer.

The lad from Croydon has international ambitions and is no stranger to pulling on the rose shirt having previously represented England Counties U18, England Students and England 7s.

Director of Rugby Rob Baxter excited to see the winger continue to contribute to the Chiefs.

“It’s fantastic news that Paul has decided to extend his contract with us. He was clearly one of our key performers this season.

“He is a guy with huge potential and one of those players we fully expect to see pushing for international honours very shortly.

“As I’ve said to a lot of the guys re-signing, we will be trying to build a team involving them that will be challenging at the top end of the Premiership. That will obviously help them with their international ambitions.

“We see Paul being key to the ambitions we as a club have for the future, so this is a very important signing for us. It’s really good news for the type of squad we want to build going forward and the exciting players we want to have within the team.”
