Annie Vernon's highly impressive sporting knowledge couldn't quite save the day for Nic White's team in the annual Question of Sport night held at Sandy Park.

The former Olympic rower reeled off a string of answers in a dramatic final round, but alas it was all in vain as together with Chiefs scrum-half White and Exeter City footballer Pierce Sweeney, they narrowly missed out on glory.

Instead, it was newly-appointed Exeter Chiefs Women's Head Coach, Susie Appleby, who took the crown 46-44 alongside her fellow team-mates, Jack Brooks (Somerset Cricket Club) and Jake Taylor (Exeter City)

With the night largely based on many of the rounds associated with the hit BBC One show, plus a few others devised by the team here at Sandy Park, the fun-filled evening of sporting trivia was superbly-hosted by former Westcounty TV Head of Sport, Mark Tyler.

Appleby's side led from start to finish, but it was Vernon who ensured Team One stayed in contention, particularly securing maximum reward on two occasions in the 'Say My Name' round.

Already plans are in place for the event to return in January 2021, so keep peeled to both the Chiefs and Sandy Park websites for future information.
