Scott Sio signs for Cardiff Rugby for 2026/27 season

Exeter Chiefs loosehead prop Scott Sio has agreed a move to Cardiff Rugby for the 2026/27 season.
The highly experienced front-rower prepares to leave Devon after five years as a Chief, during which he made more than 75 appearances in all competitions.
Sio said: “I’m very grateful to the Exeter Chiefs organisation for the opportunity I’ve had the last four seasons. I have learned a lot as a player and a person, and I have been lucky enough to start a family while calling Devon home.
“Thank you to all the supporters; you truly made the last few years some of the most enjoyable of my career.
“I’m hoping to finish the season strong with everyone and make a big push for the PREM final.”
Born in Sydney, Australia with a rugby pedigree which began with his father Tavita representing Manu Samoa at the 1991 Rugby World Cup, Sio took up the mantel for his generation of the family.
During 12 seasons playing for the ACT Brumbies, Sio gained more than 140 appearances for his club as well as more than 70 caps for the Wallabies. His Australian test career included playing in the 2015 Rugby World Cup final against the All Blacks in London.
There was a moment of real pride earlier this season, however, when Sio switched his international allegiance to Manu Samoa, following in the footsteps of his father and younger sister Ana-Lise who represented the Pacific nation at last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup.
For Chiefs, Sio has been a powerhouse at set-piece while bringing a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the Exeter pack.
The 34-year-old has featured in important knockout games for Chiefs in the Gallagher PREM, as well as European competitions, most recently helping Chiefs earn an EPCR Challenge Cup quarter-final victory over Benetton Rugby in Treviso.
