Exeter Chiefs are on target to smash last year’s season ticket sales and see them increase for the 12th year in a row.

The Devon club have already sold in excess of 4,600 tickets for the 2018/19 campaign, well ahead of previous years at this point.

With many existing supporters again choosing to renew their season tickets, the club has also been encouraged by the 18% rise in new supporters purchasing season tickets, which until the end of June purchases can be spread across eight monthly payments.

After another hugely impressive season for Rob Baxter’s side last term, one in which they reached a third successive Premiership Final and saw them pick-up the Anglo-Welsh Cup for a second time, demand to see home games at Sandy Park continues to grow year on year.

After a record-breaking campaign during 2016/17 when the club recorded a total attendance figure of 208,424 - that figure rose again last season as supporters turned out in force to watch the Chiefs during the defence of their Premiership title.

During the 19 first team fixtures played at Sandy Park, the total figure of spectators recorded was that of 216,291, a rise of 7,867 on the previous season.

In the Premiership, the average home match-day crowd was that of 11,780 compared to 11,483 the previous year, while the average home crowd for all fixtures rose to 11,383 from that of 10,421 in 2016/17.

The rise in figures was yet another clear indication of the whole match-day experience that the Chiefs now provide, both on and off the field.

Keen to build on the increase in crowds ahead of the new season, the Chiefs recently launched their new Season Ticket promotion push, entitled ‘Everyone Counts’. Featuring Baxter and a number of the club’s frontline stars, the drive towards attracting more supporters to games is clearly working, outlined in the impressive figures to date.

Exeter Rugby Club chairman and chief executive, Tony Rowe OBE, said: “The fans never cease to amaze us and we’re delighted with the way our season ticket sales have gone so far. Already we have broken last season’s figure and we still have over two months to go until the start of the season.

“By having a season ticket here at the Chiefs, not only does it guarantee our loyal supporters a place for every match played at Sandy Park, but it’s also offers a number of additional benefits and the best value-for-money tickets for those who regularly come to our home matches.

"We know that our award-winning match-day experience is something that rugby supporters really embrace, but so too is the quality of rugby that is being produced here by Rob and his outstanding team.

"Having a successful side not only means we are able to challenge for honours throughout the course of the season, but it helps generate vital match-day revenue that helps to keep us amongst the leading clubs within the Premiership and Europe."
