Former Worcester Warriors loosehead prop Demi Swann has signed for Exeter Chiefs Women ahead of the start of the Premiership Women’s Rugby 2023/24 season.

Canadian-born Scottish internationalist Swann started playing rugby later in life having originally focused on track and wrestling in her early years of sport involvement before picking up a rugby ball in university.

Swann was called into Scotland camp – which she qualifies for through her mother being from Troon – for the first time in 2023 to take part in the recent WXV2 campaign.

Discussing the opportunity afforded to her by Exeter Chiefs Women, the forward is intrigued to test herself in a new environment as the action of a new PWR season fast approaches.

“With the unfortunate situation at Worcester, I had the opportunity to find a club that had a similar environment as well as the values which I’m looking for in a team.”

“It was important for me to find a group of people who are going to challenge me and inspire me. I knew the Chiefs environment was going to be extremely competitive and tough which will only help me to grow as a player and as a person.”

The 27-year-old is looking for this season to be one of growth as she looks to solidify her place in her position whilst getting more technical and dominant at the scrum.

Equally as importantly, Swann acknowledges that forming friendships and connections within her new environment is of a high priority for her moving into a competitive season.

Head coach Susie Appleby will see her squad in action in the PWR for the first time when Chiefs Women travel to Leicester this Sunday afternoon for a 3pm kick-off.
