Exeter Chiefs play their first friendly of the season on Saturday, 23rd August as an U23s side travels to Brickfields to take on Plymouth Albion.

“This gives the young guys the opportunity to put the Chiefs shirt on, some of them for the first time,” skills coach Ricky Pellow, who will lead the side, said.

“It’s also a new beginning for all of us. We had a few changes with Dave [Walder] coming in to adapt and change our attacking structure and how we play the game, so this is a great opportunity for a lot of people to see how we’re going to look as a side.

“There’s been a rivalry over the years, between Exeter and Plymouth, so I’m sure that’s going to be there. We’re expecting a tough game from a good side that were competing at the top of National One last year.”

There is experience sprinkled throughout the Chiefs U23s side with Gallagher PREM players Tom Cairns and Zack Wimbush in the starting line-up and Will Becconsall on the bench.

Finn Worley-Brady captains the side from openside flanker while Marlon Farouk-Roy also features in the side having recently signed a Chiefs senior academy deal.

The game kicks off at 15:00 at Brickfields with tickets available from £7.50 on the Albion website here.
