Exeter Chiefs full-back Tommy Wyatt has committed his future to the club, signing a contract extension.

The electric back has earned his new contract after capturing eyes with his impressive metres-made statistics and his physicality at full-back.

Originally dual-registered with Championship side, Cornish Pirates, Wyatt is already embarking on an exciting Chiefs career with 36 appearances and nine tries to his name in all competitions.

"I'm really excited for the new few years in an Exeter Chiefs shirt," the full-back said. "I've relished my time at Sandy Park so far and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next."

A product of Taunton – whom he helped win the National Two South title in 2019/20 – Wyatt was given an initial introduction to Chiefs by watching the eye of former player, Nic Sestaret.

A versatile player, the 24-year-old cut his teeth with Pirates and appearances for Exeter Braves before being snapped up by the first team where he has now featured in the Premiership Cup, the Gallagher Premiership and the Investec Champions Cup.

Director of Rugby Rob Baxter sees the promise and talent Wyatt brings to the squad, so is looking forward to his future in Exeter colours.

“We’re delighted to have re-signed Tommy. He was part of a young and exciting squad that really went after things in the Premiership Cup and then followed that into the Premiership.

“Tommy at the start of the season was like a steam train. He’s very strong on the ball and he was making numerous breaks from behind the line. He was very safe and very strong for us. He was tearing it up in the Premiership – leading the way in a number of charts.

“Unfortunately, he picked up a serious injury but he’s rehabbing very well, and we’re pleased with how he’s adapted to that process. We’re really looking forward to seeing him next season, as we know he’ll come back fighting fit and he’ll hopefully have even more of a positive impact for us.”

Wyatt is the first player to commit to Chiefs this week with teammates expected to follow.
