Tuttosi expecting a sell-out for Red Roses game

Early bird tickets for the Red Roses fixture against Canada have on gone on sale…and Emily Tuttosi is expecting a sellout!

The seasoned Canadian international has already played two games in the red jersey at Sandy Park, but this time round, it will pitch the first ranked team in the world against the second in a re-run of last year’s Rugby World Cup final.

While Red Roses supporters may revel in the opportunity to watch the world champions at Sandy Park on Saturday, 19 September, Canada will be looking to dispel the memory of the final and, ultimately, end England’s unbeaten streak.

Tuttosi said: “That match meant a lot for women’s sports and was a pinnacle experience in my career but coming out on the wrong side of it leaves a bit of a bitter taste in your mouth.

“We are sitting in second, and they’re sitting in one. Who knows, over the next couple of tournament stuff could change a bit, but we do know they are the team to beat and have this big streak, but why can’t it be us to end it?”

The serious business of this new-look WXV Global Series fixture aside, Tuttosi is looking forward to playing on home turf alongside her fellow club and country team-mates, DaLeaka Menin and Alex Tessier, and numerous players from across the PWR. Tuttosi is hoping the Exeter Chiefs Women’s faithful will show her some support despite not wearing the white jersey of England.

She said: “It’s really exciting. Everyone loves a test match at what they consider to be their home ground. I got to experience one during the World Cup myself.

“It’s super enjoyable that we’ve made connections all over the PWR. There will be fans who are probably cheering for England but cheering for them [their club players] too and that is a special type of community; unless you’re in it, you really don’t quite understand how special it is.”

The early bird window for tickets is now open until midnight on Monday, 27 April. Tickets are just £10 for adults and £5 for U18s.

“I expect a sell-out match,” said Tuttosi. “I expect an incredible atmosphere. I think a World Cup final re-match, down in Exeter, my home club…it’s going to be another match to remember.”
