Wall returns to training with Ireland

Exeter Chiefs lock and back-row Dorothy Wall returned to Ireland training this week after missing the Rugby World Cup with a ruptured Achilles.

Wall pulled up with the Achilles injury in Ireland’s last Six Nations game against Scotland, meaning her World Cup dreams were over for 2025. The 25-year-old returned to action for her club earlier than expected after nearly seven months of rehabilitation.

She came off the bench against Harlequins in November and featured in every game thereafter.

Wall is now back training in the green shirt of Ireland alongside club team-mates hooker Cliodhna Moloney-MacDonald and centre Nancy McGillivray as the home nations’ squads begin their preparation for the Women’s Six Nations. Edel ‘Tricky’ McMahon is still rehabilitating after two knee operations.

Exeter Chiefs Women’s head coach Steve Salvin said: “I have said this before, but I am not sure I have ever seen a player so committed to her rehab, although Tricky is giving her a run for her money at the moment! I was obviously pleased to see her back on the pitch for us in November, but I know how much playing for Ireland means to her, so it’s great to see her back in the training squad this week.”

Meanwhile, the rest of the Chiefs Women's squad are back in training after a break over Christmas and New Year as they prepare for the second block of the PWR season that starts with a home game against Leicester Tigers Women. Tickets for children and youths are just £1 for this fixture and are available here.
