Wimbush and James to go on loan to Pirates

Winger Zack Wimbush and scrum-half Orson James will both be available on loan to Champ Rugby side, Cornish Pirates.
Wimbush suffered a toe injury in pre-season for the Chiefs’ current campaign, returning to fitness for the friendly against Coventry two weeks ago, while James has been rehabbing an ACL injury which required double surgery and has kept him sidelined for the past 18 months.
Chiefs’ director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “This is a great opportunity for both players to compete for spots in a competitive Pirates team and rack up game minutes in a gritty league.
“Our working relationship with Pirates is a strong and fruitful one, so I look forward to both Orson and Zack contributing to what will hopefully be a positive campaign for Pirates.”
Youngsters Louie Sinclair, Sol Moody, Jack Forsythe and Alfie Bell are all currently dual-registered with Pirates for the 2025/26 season.
Cornish Pirates currently sit eighth in the Champ table having suffered defeat by a single point following a second half comeback against Hartpury at the Mennaye on opening weekend.
