Fresh from making his Gallagher PREM debut, Exeter Chiefs back-rower Finn Worley Brady has signed a new contract with the club.
The 21-year-old, who is captain of the University of Exeter’s EURFC, made his Chiefs debut in November against Sale Sharks in the PREM Rugby Cup.
Worley Brady said: “I’m really excited to re-sign with Chiefs. I thoroughly enjoyed the prem cup block as my first opportunity to get my name on an Exeter shirt.
“To then be given my league debut on the back of that was fantastic. It’s been great fun being involved with the squad, so I’m really looking forward to trying to make an impact in Europe too.
“This is a great opportunity I’ve been given to develop with Chiefs and I fully intend on making the most of it.”
Having debuted in the early rounds of the competition, Worley Brady completed his PREM Rugby Cup campaign with 86 tackles, 42 carries, 219 rucks and a runners-up medal.
His work-rate in training and his strength of on-field performances earned him his league debut recently in front of an elated Sandy Park crowd. His teammates cheered him on as he took to the field in Chiefs’ bonus point win over Sale Sharks.
Originally a part of the London Irish player academy, Worley Brady made the move to Exeter following the club’s demise. An integral part of the EURFC first team, he was handed their captaincy at the start of this season, identified by university coaches as a natural leader who leads by example.
His performances for Chiefs in the cup competition earned him his Gallagher PREM debut.
Chiefs’ director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “Finn is a player who came to the University of Exeter and bought into absolutely everything that we wanted him to do within our player pathway there.
“Not only has he played exceptionally well for them, but we’ve seen real growth in him during his time with EURFC, so we were delighted to bring him into Chiefs and give him an extended block of game time with us throughout the PREM Rugby Cup.
“Truthfully, he put in some really good performances during the campaign, looked like a guy who could stay on track and get his individual basics bang on. He held good discipline, maintained his playing quality and actually became what I would describe as one of our top performers in the Cup.
“Going on to make his PREM debut, it was the perfect example of a young man who is getting better almost day by day. He’s very dedicated to what he does, he’s a nice guy and a good team man around the club. I really hope he goes on to thrive with us.”
