Exeter Chiefs duo selected for Wallabies squad
Published on: 19/06/2026
Exeter Chiefs duo Tom Hooper and Len Ikitau have been named in the Wallabies squad ahead of this summer’s Nations Championship tests.
The pair will fly out in the wake of tomorrow’s Gallagher PREM Final against Northampton Saints at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.
Both picked to start for Chiefs tomorrow, they are still clearly an integral part of Australia plans following their international selection for the Wallabies’ 37-player squad.
Head coach Joe Schmidt said: “They’ve both assured me that they are absolutely flying and I watched their games and I don’t think they’re doing too badly. I know Rob Baxter [Exeter Chiefs boss] and he’s been delighted with the two of them and the performance they’ve delivered to help Exeter get to the Final.”
Uncapped Brumbies Declan Meredith and Lachlan Shaw, and Waratahs lock Miles Amatosero are in line for potential debuts while all-time Wallabies’ test appearance record holder James Slipper has also been named to make a potential comeback from international retirement.
Schmidt added: “There have been ongoing discussions among the coaches for a number of months and, as always, there are some very good players who have not been selected for this first international window.
“We’ve settled on a group that we think will work hard and can perform well against three top-tier European teams with the added excitement of competing in the new Nations Championship for the first time.”
