Harry Ascherl signs for Cornish Pirates for the 2026/27 season

Published on: 12/05/2026

Exeter Chiefs centre Harry Ascherl has signed a contract with Cornish Pirates for the 2026/27 season.

Ascherl has been down in Penzance on loan with the Champ Rugby side for the past month and will join fellow dual-registered Chief Jack Forsythe in making a permanent move to Cornwall next season.

He said: “I’ve loved my time down in Penzance already, so I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my game down here with Pirates. I’m sad to be leaving Chiefs but I’m very grateful for the last year."

Ascherl originally joined Chiefs on a trail period at the outset of the 2025/26 pre-season and having impressed coaches, earned a permanent deal in October 2025.

Before moving to Devon, Ascherl made nine appearances for south west rivals Bristol Bears and also gained experience with Sydney University in the Shute Shield competition in Australia.

The centre is no stranger to the Champ having previously represented Hartpury RFC.
