Sio called up to help Samoa qualify for next Rugby World Cup
Exeter Chiefs prop Scott Sio has been named in the Samoa squad tasked with competing for the last place in the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
Capped 74 times for the Wallabies, Sio now qualifies to play Samoa as it has been three years since he last played for Australia.
Sio will follow his father David into the blue jersey of Samoa. The latter played for Western Samoa in the 1991 Rugby World Cup.
The 34-year-old, who played 143 times for the ACT Brumbies before heading to Exeter, said "I'm honoured to be selected to play for Manu Samoa in the qualification matches for the 2027 Rugby World Cup and it's an extremely proud moment for me and my family."
Samoa head into the Final Qualification Tournament to play Belgium, Namibia and Brazil for that final spot. The three-week tournament will take place in Dubai next month.
