Exeter Chiefs Women’s interim head coach Steve Salvin said: “Recognition for any of our players is always appreciated but it means a lot when younger players are celebrated too. Two of our RPA nominees - Flo and Maisy - came through our pathway at the university, with Flo getting her debut Red Roses cap this year. Meanwhile, Maddie has gone from strength to strength at club and international level. They all get my vote!”
Exeter Chiefs’ director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “We’re really excited about these three young guys and think they deserve their nominations for this RPA shortlist. This has been that big breakthrough season for Paul where he has graduated from university to some National One rugby with Plymouth and then obviously into Champions Cup and Premiership with us, scoring tries and looking like improving on a game-by-game basis as a genuine threat.
“Manny had his breakthrough last season and has been a little unfortunate with injury but started the season well. He’s going to be a huge threat going forward both for England and for Exeter. He is a guy, who we can all clearly see, with still a huge amount of talent to come from him. When you look at the combined talent of our backline next season, it makes things really very exciting,
“Probably the guy who had really been the player of the year for us in many ways for us is Greg. He has really put the metres in, put the tackles in. He has played very consistently, until we decide to get his shoulder operated on as early as possible to give him a really good pre-season next year. For me, he has been the shining light; when we have had some poor performances, he has stood out with his overall work ethic and quality of his individual actions.
“For us, it’s a fantastic portent for us going forward and as we add some more experience around the group and from external sources, we’re really looking forward to what may be possible next season.”
