Kent-born forward Bricknell first started playing rugby at Sheppey RFC when she was just four years-old having grown up with a father and uncle who both played rugby – all but forcing a love of the game on the youngster. She took to it well and has never looked back.

Bricknell had already enjoyed brief spells representing fellow PWR sides Bristol Bears Women and Gloucester-Hartpury before a five-year spell at Warriors Women.

Following the demise of Warriors, Bricknell was looking for an opportunity when the light began to shine upon a move to Devon. She made her debut against Trailfinders Women in January 2024, scoring a try on her first run out at Sandy Park

Bricknell said: “I think the hardest thing was that leaving Worcester was not my choice; it was just ‘You can’t play rugby anymore’. I genuinely thought I would not play again because clubs were full and had teams. I never thought I would move down here because it was just that little bit too far, but it took me two months to message Susie and she messaged back to say we should have a chat.

“I love it here,” Bricknell added. “I’m just like a kid who wants to run around and play rugby all the time and I can do that here. Everything has just fallen into place.”

Bricknell, who also works for Chiefs Community, suffered a knee injury at the start of 2025/26 season and is currently rehabilitating to return to play next season.
