Springbok hooker Joseph Dweba was Chiefs' second new signing for the 2025/26 season.
A standout performer for United Rugby Championship side, DHL Stormers who he has been with since signing for the South African side in 2022, the front rower is excited to settle into life in Devon next season.
The 29-year-old hooker will join Chiefs with the experience of a handful of Springbok caps since his debut in August 2021 against Argentina.
Born in Carletonville, South Africa, Dweba first picked up a rugby ball while playing touch-rugby with his friends which proved to be the catalyst for his love of the sport.
Since those early days, Dweba has experienced the highs of Northern and Southern hemisphere rugby. Before returning to his country of birth with the Stormers, the hooker played two years in the French Top14 with Bordeaux Begles.
A former representative of South Africa Schools as well as the Junior Springboks, Dweba honed his craft with the Toyota Cheetahs before his move to France.
His wealth of experience is something which Chiefs Director of Rugby Rob Baxter hopes will prove to be of vital importance to the Exeter side he is building for the future.
