Sandy Park to host England games

Exeter Chiefs chairman and chief executive Tony Rowe OBE says it's 'fantastic' that international rugby will be returning to Sandy Park again in 2019.

The Exeter venue is set to stage two international fixtures in this season's Six Nations Championship, the first of which will be the clash between England Under-20s and their French counterparts on Saturday, February 9 (12:05pm).

The second fixture - which is a first for Sandy Park - will see England Women head to the Westcountry on Saturday, March 9 (12:05pm) when Italy provide the opposition to the Red Roses.

Rowe said: “It’s fantastic that Sandy Park will again be playing host to yet more international rugby this season. Not only we will be welcoming England U20s back to Exeter once again in February, but we will also be staging for the first time the England Women’s side in March.

"As everyone is aware, interest in the women’s game has never been as big as it is now – and here at Exeter we are making big strides in our support of the women’s game with the launch of a new club side at Exeter Athletic Rugby Club this season.

“Over the years, Sandy Park has proven itself to be a fitting venue for international rugby – including that of the Rugby World Cup in 2015 – and I’ve no doubt the rugby-loving public of the region will once again turn out in force to see these England stars in action."
