The Exeter Chiefs Community department are helping a number of schools across Devon improve young people’s understanding of what constitutes healthy eating and a healthy diet

In partnership with Greggs Foundation, Tacking Health is a strand of Premiership Rugby Champions and is an interactive programme for children aged 7-8, which takes a holistic approach to teaching children about their own health, well-being and about leading a healthy lifestyle with a rugby focus.

As well as educating the youngsters about healthy eating, the Chiefs team are also helping to increase young people’s levels of physical activity.

Among those helping to spread the message locally is Chiefs Community coach Richard Bright, who has been teaching at Curledge Street Academy, Westcliff Primary Academy, Ernesettle Community School, Wilcombe Primary School and Barton Hill Academy.

Richard says: “It is really rewarding improving children’s knowledge of eating a well-balanced diet. It is important that children try to eat a balanced diet, which will not only help them in the classroom, but also when they are taking part in physical activity.”

Richard is currently booking in Primary Schools for January. If you know a Primary School that may be interested in this, then please contact Richard on [email protected]
