Marjons welcomes the Chiefs
By Mark Stevens
Exeter Chiefs continued their pre-season build-up by taking part in an extensive work-out at the University of St Mark & St John in Plymouth.
Having already carried out various training activities at Exmouth Beach, the University of Exeter, Bicton College and Sandy Park, this time the Chiefs headed down the A38 for an afternoon which literally pushed their players to their maximum.
Not only did the Chiefs squad engage in swimming, wall climbing, reaction testing and weightlifting, but endurance and stamina work were also put to the test in a series of tests, including working at 96% humidity in temperatures of up to 35 degrees in the centre's sealed training chamber.
Commenting on the visit, Mark Twiggs - Chiefs' Head of Strength and Conditioning - said: "All the time we are looking to test the players in different environments. Coming down to Marjons was another way of testing the lads through a series of challenges and we're delighted with the results they have produced.
"To have a facility like Marjons so close to us is fantastic and we'd like to thank everyone at the University of St Mark and St John for the support they have shown us."
