Training tips prove helpful

BARUM Youngsters

A helping hand from three Exeter Chiefs players may well have proved key as Barnstaple Under-14s recently booked their place in this season's Devon Under-14 Plate semi-finals.

Just days prior to their quarter-final encounter with Ivybridge, Chiefs skipper Tom Hayes, along with team-mates Will Chudley and Damian Welch, headed along to Pottingdon Road to help the Barum youngsters with some pre-match prep ahead of their crucial clash.

Organised by RGB Building Supplies who sponsor the trio, the Chiefs stars served up a few tricks of the trade during a special two-hour training session for the young players.

And, so it seems, the training paid dividends as Barnstaple saw off their rivals 12-0 thanks to second half tries from Josh Samat and Noah Stevens, the latter of which was converted by Tom Squires.
