A special collaboration between Exeter Rugby Club and Samurai Sportswear will see club members over the age of 70 given a free bespoke Chiefs face mask.

In what are unprecedented times for all of us, the Chiefs and Samurai Sportswear have joined forces to produce the new, re-usable masks, which adorn the club crest and are in the colours of the club’s black home jersey.

Over 170 masks will be issued in the coming days to those club members who fall into the 70+ age bracket.

Exeter Rugby Club chairman and chief executive, Tony Rowe OBE, in a letter to members who qualify for the free mask, said: “Please find enclosed with this small note a small gift compliments of the club and Samurai Sportswear.

“You have been chosen to receive this gift, as like me, you are classed as ‘high-risk’ of Covid-19. I think it is something to do with our age, which prompts me to say age is just a number and let us not be judged by age!

“I am 71 years young and, hopefully, still good for a few more years and hope you are of the same frame of mind.

“Enjoy your personal, washable face mask, stay safe, and I will see you at Sandy Park soon!”

Although the masks do not provide a replacement for medical grade Personal Protective Equipment, they should be used in conjunction with current advice issued by the Government, including social distancing rules and washing your hands regularly.

Priced at £9.99 (including postage and packaging) for adults and £8.99 for juniors, orders of the new masks will be dispatched by the Trading Post within the next day 10 days.
