The pre-season fixture scheduled between Top 14 champions ASM Clermont-Auvergne and Aviva Premiership champions Exeter Chiefs has been cancelled.

The two sides were due to clash in France on Friday, August 4, but following notification from Clermont this week, the game will no longer be taking place.

Rob Baxter's side will now kick-off their pre-season campaign with a double header against Championship side Cornish Pirates and Pro 12 rivals Newport-Gwent Dragons on Saturday, August 19 at Sandy Park.

A Chiefs XV will face the Pirates at 1:30pm before a second Chiefs XV will face the Dragons at 3:30pm. Exeter's next friendly encounter will take place on Friday, August 25 away to Cardiff Blues (7:15pm).
