The Exeter Chiefs HITZ programme continues to be one of the leading teams in the country.

As this year's students reached their goals for this first term, they were rewarded with a special Christmas meal and celebration day at Topsham Rugby Club.

The team loved being active and enjoyed a morning of sport before sitting down to eat together with music, quizzes and games, helping to add to make it a great day.

The HITZ team would like to pay a special thank-you to Brian and May Hibbert for buying and preparing all of the delicious food; to Nigel Mortimore who from the start of our time in Topsham has supported, promoted and guided our team towards success, generously providing prizes for our quizzes and games and, finally, to Andy Bassett for the time he continues to share and helping the group work towards their goals.

Gareth Williams, HITZ officer for the Exeter Chiefs, said: "Our students put their money together to buy all our supporters gifts for their kindness, using this opportunity to also hand out our awards for the term. These included their first aid qualifications that they completed with Brian Hibbert, who was kind enough to present them to our learners."

Also, among the award winners on the day was student Cai, who picked up the Govinda Kay Award for being an all-round star and living by rugby's values.

"My day was really good," he said. "I’m really enjoying being on the team. I’m honestly so grateful I was even considered for the awar,d let alone win it, I genuinely appreciate everything you guys have done for me."
