Exeter Chiefs can confirm that scrum-half Dave Lewis is to leave the club at the end of the current campaign to join Harlequins.

Signed in 2013 from Premiership rivals Gloucester, the 27-year-old has to date made 79 appearances and scored eight tries for the Devon club.

He has agreed a two-year deal with the Londoners, but was quick to pay tribute to those at the Chiefs, whom he helped win the LV= Cup in 2014 against Northampton Saints.

Lewis said: “The Chiefs are an excellent club and I feel I have progressed immensely, both on and off the field, since I joined them. I have made some brilliant memories that I’ll be taking with me and can safely say I know I’ve made some lifelong friends.

“I wish to thank all the staff and fans who made me feel immediately welcome, supported and valued as a Chief. I wish the club all the best for the future.”
