Premiership Rugby has established a new Board of Directors to oversee its strategic and financial growth and development.

The Board, which will be chaired by Andrew Higginson, is part of the revised governance structure for the organisation following the investment by CVC Capital Partners to help grow the sport and the appointment of Darren Childs as CEO earlier this year.

Andrew Higginson is currently Chairman of Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc and has extensive experience of senior leadership and non-executive roles in successful consumer businesses including Tesco and Sky.

He previously served as an independent non-executive director of the Rugby Football Union between 2011 and 2016. He takes up his role as non-executive chairman at Premiership Rugby on January 1, 2020.

Andrew Higginson said: “This is an exciting time for club rugby with outstanding talent in the game, substantial opportunities for growth and the support of an experienced investment partner. Alongside the rest of the Board, I look forward to working with Darren and the team at Premiership Rugby to help deliver the vision of an even more popular and successful sport in the years ahead.”
