Members of the Exeter Chiefs Women’s squad were on hand to cast their eyes over potential stars of the future at a special training held this week at the nearby Winslade Park.

Laura Delgado, Linde van der Velden, Emily Tuttosi and Clara Nielson joined staff from the Exeter Chiefs Community team for the event, which involved nearly 200 schoolchildren who have been involved with the hugely Project Rugby scheme.

The main objective of Project Rugby, which is run in partnership with Gallagher, is to engage children and give them the experience of playing rugby. The Community Chiefs then work with local grassroot clubs to try and help those children transition, if they want to, into continuing to play rugby.

Those in attendance on Thursday came from St James’ School, Holsworthy College, Plympton Academy, Honiton College and Tavistock College.

On a fun-filled day of activity, it was great to have representatives from the local Gallagher branch attend.
