Niamh Orchard started playing rugby in Dubai for Arabian Knights RFC. She moved to England in 2015 and joined Sutton & Epsom RFC. She then moved to Gloucester-Hartpury College to study at Exeter University. She is a key part of the university team, helping the side reach the BUCS final in the 2022/23 season.
Her first Chiefs appearance was in the Allianz Premiership Cup in the 2022/23 season and she was part of the cup-winning side that defeated Saracens at Sandy Park. She made her first Allianz PWR league appearance against Leicester Tigers in the 2023/24 season.
Orchard, made her U20s England debut against Scotland and scored a try, signed a new contract with Chiefs ahead of the 2024/25 season.
She said: “This is a great opportunity for me. I have loved playing in the BUCS league but am also thrilled to represent Exeter Chiefs any time I am selected. I have learned so much playing with the girls at uni and have benefited from the coaching I have received from Poppy (Leitch) and Rachel (Johnson), and Steve Salvin at Chiefs, of course. I am really excited to see how far I can go in rugby and am grateful to get this chance.”
